Born and educated in Calgary, Lara Hontzias is an experienced interior designer known for creating warm, lasting spaces that reflect the people who live in them. She graduated from Mount Royal University with a Bachelor of Interior Design, building a strong foundation in design theory, spatial planning, and project execution.

Before beginning her design career, Lara studied Hotel and Restaurant Management at SAIT and worked in client-facing roles where she developed a deep understanding of customer service, communication, and attention to detail—skills that continue to shape her approach to design today.

Lara began her professional journey in corporate interior design at a large and reputable Calgary firm, gaining valuable experience in business design, project management, and client relations. In 2009, she followed her passion for residential design and launched her own firm, helping families create spaces that are functional, timeless, and uniquely personal.

With over 20 years of experience, Lara believes that great design blends classic elements with meaningful personal touches, creating interiors that are both enduring and inviting.

With a background in Fine Arts and classical violin, Lara brings an artistic sensibility and appreciation for balance, rhythm, and composition to every project. Her early opportunities to travel continue to inspire her work, influencing her love of texture, craftsmanship, and culture.

When she’s not designing, you’ll find Lara outdoors—walking her dog at the off-leash park, hiking the nearby mountains, or planning her next travel adventure. And when she’s in her creative zone, she’s likely doing so with a cappuccino in hand and a stack of samples on her desk.
