With over 20 years of experience in interior design, Lara Hontzias creates homes that are both beautiful and deeply functional. Her philosophy is simple: every person and every family is unique, and their home should reflect how they live, what they value, and how they want to feel in their space.

Lara offers full-service residential interior design, guiding projects from concept through to completion. Her work includes space planning, visual concept and construction drawings, furniture layouts and selections, finish and material specifications, lighting design, and the final layering of details that bring a space together. Each project is approached with a clear focus on thoughtful planning, strong design, and lasting results.

Lara works closely with contractors, trades, and consultants to ensure every project runs smoothly—from early planning through to final installation. She manages design details, budgets, and timelines while maintaining open, consistent communication with all parties involved.

Experience & Background

Born and educated in Calgary, Lara holds a Bachelor of Applied Interior Design from Mount Royal College and a Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management from SAIT. Following several years in customer-focused roles, where she developed exceptional client service and communication skills, she began her design career in corporate interior design at a leading Calgary firm. There, she established a strong foundation in space planning, project coordination, and client communication.

In 2009, Lara launched her own residential design practice, where she has built a reputation for creating innovative, practical, and personalized homes for families.

She remains actively engaged in the industry through continuing education and professional affiliations, including membership with the Interior Designers of Alberta and the Decorators and Designers Association of Canada.
